Fido

So my roommate from college (from way back when), J, asked me to photograph her dogs for Christmas photos. I accepted the challenge today, having never been formally asked to shoot pets before. It was definitely more difficult to shoot than, let's say, babies or children. By the end of the shoot, I was dead tired! I did learn a few things such as the necessity of  having lots of patience and energy (to keep up!). I would definitely do it again if I could, but, next time, equipped with a double espresso and a really good indoor, portrait lens.

LA: Wedding: J + A

I was a bridesmaid for J + A's lovely wedding. It was held at the historical Lindley-Scott House in the San Gabriel Valley.
I actually took very few shots of the wedding (B had my camera most of the time), but I did take some pictures during the rehearsal a few days earlier (see above).

Travel: Santa Barbara

I drove out to join J's bachelorette party in Santa Barbara. The first thing the group did was go shopping on State Street where we also had lunch. Later, we decided to check out the beach area where we had a free mini-boat tour of the harbor. We later strolled on the pier. On it was the Moby Dick Restaurant which served the best tasting raw oysters I've ever had. I would totally go back just for them.

Travel: San Pedro

L, I, J, B, and I all went to San Pedro for a mini reunion. At first, we had a late, outdoor lunch in Ports O'Call at the Alaska Seafood restaurant. We ordered fresh seafood from the market and the restaurant cooked it for us. We all decided to share raw oysters and fried fish. The food was just okay -- nothing special, overpriced, if anything. We then, fittingly, went to the Korean Friendship Bell and practiced jumping shots. :)

Travel: Las Vegas - Hoover Dam & Red Rock Canyon

We did a hectic New Year's Eve meet up between 10 people!
Itinerary:
  • Day 1: Drove F & H up with us to Las Vegas. We met up with E and her entourage at the Golden Nugget in Downtown Las Vegas where 6 of them shared one room. B and I had our own free room on the Strip. That night, we had the Fremont experience, ate at Firefly, and then went to a hookah lounge.
  • Day 2: We found everyone at Golden Nugget's pool, despite the freezing outside temperatures. We toured the Strip (Bellagio, Caesar's, etc.). E and everyone else left to go to the Grand Canyon. B and I decided not to go because we'd already been a couple times.
  • Day 3:  B and I, instead, decided do the tour of the Hoover Dam. We invited J and A to stay in our room because we had a spare bed.
  • Day 4: B and I toured Red Rock Canyon. That night we attended a NYE banquet and had steak and lobster dinner for free! We met up with J and A to be on the Strip when midnight struck. They took us out for Korean BBQ afterward.
  • Day 5: J and A left early the next morning. B and I toured the Wynn, Palazzo, and Venetian. E and her entourage returned from the Grand Canyon and we met up at the Luxor. We took F and H out for dinner at Canters in Treasure Island. Then, we left everyone and went home.
